Med Tech Skills That We Depend On

Med techs are essential at any nursing facility, and McKenzie Living is no different. Our med tech team underpins everything we do here. From providing each client with the personal care they need to helping our team function as one cohesive whole, we couldn't provide the services we do without their help.

Keeping Our Residents Safe

Our facility is designed for the safety, security, and enjoyment of our residents. Knowing how to maintain this special environment is something our med techs do exceptionally well. They keep our areas clean and safe from tripping hazards, and they even modify the space to fit our residents' needs.

Keeping Our Residents Healthy

We take a holistic approach to supporting our residents’ health. From offering many social and physical activities to cooking wholesome meals, we strive to promote an active lifestyle that they enjoy. Our med techs constantly monitor our residents and support them in their activities. This allows them to go forth with confidence, whether it's an exercise class or a walk through the garden. Having a med tech available to care for our residents if they fall or are coping with the effects of dementia is extremely important.

Monitoring Participants’ Health

Our med techs also ensure our residents stay healthy by monitoring their physical condition. If a resident is experiencing issues, a med tech will report the issue and record it. This helps us track our residents’ health over time and provide the right type of care when they need it.

Bridging Communication

Our med techs make it possible for our entire facility to work cohesively. They interact directly with our residents and communicate with other caregivers and supervisors, and they're not always speaking about easy topics. They know how to listen attentively, ask the right questions and speak in a compassionate fashion. In any job, communication skills are critical, and at an assisted living facility, perhaps even more so.

Creating a Supportive Environment

Just because a house has a floor, windows, and a roof doesn't make it a home. For a house to become a home, more is needed. Maybe cooking meals, relaxing with family and friends, and decorating. In the same way, McKenzie Living isn’t a top-notch nursing facility because of our buildings or specialized equipment. Rather, it's because of our exceptional staff and the way they support our residents and team. Beyond monitoring our patients' health, they smile at our residents, lend an ear, and show kindness to our team. In a fundamental way, they create the supportive environment that McKenzie Living is for our residents and staff.
